Safe-T-Punch is an effective and efficient way to break toughened glass in an emergency situation. The device is currently being used as an emergency excite tool on buses, taxis and other vehicles in South Africa, Europe and the UK. Safe-T-Punch is easily fixed directly to a toughened glass windows and/or roof hatches using 3M VHB adhesive. No modifications are required to the inside or outside of the window.
The Safe-T-Punch uses a bevelled tungsten tip that perforates the compression layer of the toughened glass with minimal effort. The design makes it possible to break a glass window with one single blow or multiple softer blows should an individual be injured or physically less able.
This technology has been evaluated by the Council for Scientific and industrial Research (CSIR), the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and Wintech United Kingdom, a UCAS accredited testing facility.
